ADRIAN GRANT - Producer
Adrian’s association with Michael Jackson spanned over 20 years, and in that time he enjoyed seeing the megastar entertain millions of people all over the world.
In 1988 Adrian launched the world’s first Michael Jackson fanzine, Off the Wall, which had been approved by Sony and MJJ Productions. Within two years it had a circulation of 25,000 and was being read in over 47 countries around the world.
In March 1990, Michael invited Adrian to Neverland Valley, and he became the first ever person to write a feature story about his wonderful retreat. Published in the British publication Smash Hits, it was surprisingly Jackson’s first cover story for the popular magazine.
Adrian has been privileged to have had great access to Jackson’s world over the years, i.e. during recording of the Dangerous album, HIStory album, world tours, photo and video shoots, exclusive interviews, lunches, dinners and much more. In 1994 Adrian wrote the best-selling Michael Jackson chronology – The Visual Documentary, published by Omnibus Press.
Jackson has personally acknowledged Adrian’s work many times, and in 1998 granted Adrian an exclusive interview for his third book, Making HIStory. In 2001, Michael Jackson personally attended the Tenth Annual Michael Jackson Tribute – a show Adrian had been producing since 1991. Michael described the show as “Beautiful and incredible!”
In 2006 Adrian developed the Michael Jackson Tribute show further and created Thriller Live, which first previewed at the Dominion Theatre. Later that year Adrian teamed the Thriller Live dancers up with American RnB star, Chris Brown, to perform before Michael Jackson and a TV audience of almost one billion at The World Music Awards, celebrating the record-breaking album, “Thriller” and Jackson receiving the Diamond Award.
The following year Adrian joined up with Flying Music to produce Thriller Live as a touring show, enjoying success and rave reviews across the UK and Europe.
Prior to his work in the theatre, Adrian published two national magazines – Shades and Blink. Shades was the UK’s first youth culture & lifestyle publication to focus on diversity and representing stories from marginalised groups.

In October 2017 Adrian received the Image Award at the Black British Business Awards for setting a record of excellence and making a lasting, significant and positive contribution to the standing of people of African and Caribbean heritage in Britain for Thriller Live and his work with Michael Jackson.

In November 2018 Adrian launched the Visionary Arts Awards aiming to inspire positive change in our communities by engaging young adults to use their artistic platforms from film, music and theatre to literature and digital media as a sound board for discussion and debate around social issues such as diversity, equality, mental health, anti-social behaviour and the climate crisis.
As well as paying tribute to the King of Pop, Adrian produced Respect – The Aretha Franklin Songbook celebrating the Queen of Soul.
Adrian is currently producing two new shows. Still We Roar, which tells the story of three pioneering black female England footballers. And I'm Every Woman - The Chaka Khan Musical.
